£6.4m Regency Park Launched
16 July 2007
A £6.4m housing development is changing the face of Queens Road, Bootle. Regency Park provides a range of property types and options including rent, shared ownership and outright sale to meet the needs and aspirations of local people.
Andrea Culshaw, Andy Baxter and their children Jose and Olivia are one of the first families to move in. 15 year-old Jose was the youngest ever player to turn out for Everton Football Club's under-18 team last year. The family have moved into a three-storey, four bedroom townhouse. Andrea told us: Jose and Olivia are really excited about the new house. Jose really wanted the bedroom at the top and we are going to put all his trophies along the landing.
Maria O'Brien, Evolve Neighbourhood Director, told us: These new homes prove that this area is changing and that new opportunities are opening up for local people. Evolve is committed to and excited about the long-term future of Bootle, which is a great place to live and work.
Regency Park is the first new build scheme for the area in over 20 years and is part of the government's housing market renewal programme. Partners in the development include Evolve Neighbourhood Regeneration, Hornby Homes, Keepmoat, Sefton Council and NewHeartlands.
26 new homes have been completed so far, with 19 for rent and 7 for shared ownership. A further 27 homes will be completed in the first phase.
Over 300 new homes are planned for the area alongside the selected renovation of Victorian terraces through PLUS Housing Group's Improve for Sale programme. Stanley Road will also benefit from redevelopment, providing a vibrant mix of shops, offices and new apartments.
Regency Park is approved by government design agency CABE (Commission for Architecture in the Built Environment) and has an EcoHomes rating of Very Good, meaning that residents can make energy savings. The development was named following consultation with residents.
