Everybody Needs Good Neighbours

24 May 2007

Evolve Neighbourhood Regeneration will use European Neighbours' Day to promote its Good Neighbour Agreement, which has been designed to tackle anti-social behaviour and promote a safer community.

European Neighbours' Day will be celebrated across Europe on Tuesday, 29 May. The annual event encourages people to be good neighbours.

Evolve will make door-to-door visits in the Bedford area of Bootle, explaining the agreement and asking residents to sign up as a commitment to their community. The Good Neighbour Agreement sets out the responsibilities that both residents and regeneration partners have in making the area a better place to live for everyone.

Earlier this year, key figures from Sefton including Graham Haywood, Chief Executive of Sefton Borough Council, Chief Superintendent Mark Matthews from Merseyside Police, Alan Carr from Sefton's Anti-Social Behaviour Unit and Jette Burford, Principal of Hugh Baird College were the first to sign up to the agreement.

Dave Tai, Evolve Neighbourhood Manager, told us: We're committed to making this area a place where people choose to live, work and invest. The Good Neighbour Agreement sets out the responsibilities of everyone involved with this neighbourhood and benefits the whole community.

Evolve is the regeneration partnership for the Queens, Bedford, Worcester and Hawthorne neighbourhoods of Bootle. Partners include PLUS Housing Group, Hornby Homes, Cosmopolitan HA, Sefton MBC and Merseyside HMR pathfinder organisation NewHeartlands.
