Summer Fun!

16 July 2007

Over 100 people enjoyed a day of uninterrupted sunshine at the Evolve Neighbourhood Regeneration Summer Fun Day on Saturday, 14 July. The event was held at the Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre, making use of both the football pitch and indoor facilities.

Youngsters learned circus skills including juggling and stilt-walking. Vinnie Cleghorne, the artist who has been working with Evolve at 45 Stanley Road, was on hand to help youngsters decorate paper crowns with sequins, feathers and sticky shapes. Football training, cheerleading and a DJ got everyone moving.

One of the main attractions was a living jungle of snakes, lizards and insects. Youngsters were able to handle the animals and learn more about them.

Mums and dads enjoyed a relaxing holistic massage and a cuppa in the sunshine.

Thanks to everyone who attended the day and to all the volunteers who helped to make the event such a success for the second year running!
